Spring
The lilys soaring from the ground,
As the trees sprout new green.
The pines grow tall and straight
As the daffodils dance and preen.
The squirrels hop from tree to tree
As the birds swoop and sing.
The fawn sniffs the fresh air,
Ah, 'tis spring.
The sleepy bear streches and growls,
As the beaver builds his dam in earnest.
The groundhog looks for his shadow,
As the robin collects straw for his new nest.
The grass springs forth fast and green
As the fields of wheat turn to gold.
The sunflowers turn to face the sun,
'Tis a sight to behold.
The ant builds his mound deep
As the eagle soars up to the sky.
The snake comes out of his hole
As winter says goodby.
The children run and play,
As the dogs come chasing.
The cat watches a butterfly,
Ah, 'tis spring.
